Define the real purpose of the visit
Before contacting suppliers, decide whether the visit is mainly for product validation, price negotiation, sample review, relationship building or quality checking. Each purpose needs a different meeting agenda.
If you only say that you want to visit a factory, the supplier may prepare a generic tour. If you explain what you need to verify, the conversation becomes much more useful.
Prepare product questions in advance
Bring product specifications, target price ranges, expected order quantity, packaging needs and any certification requirements. These details help avoid vague answers.
For technical products, prepare photos, model numbers, material requirements and examples from your market. This makes translation and supplier comparison much easier.
Plan the route realistically
Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan and Shenzhen can look close on a map, but traffic and factory locations can change the day completely. A strong route protects your meeting quality.
It is usually better to have fewer meetings with enough time for questions than too many visits where every conversation feels rushed.
